Not assigned to post, but I will anyway.

Hey guys and girls, I feel like I need to make a post today, even thought I'm not sure EXACTLY what to say. I guess this is a general thing?

I'm sure you may have noticed the Contact Form box on the right, right? Well! I do actually read it, and you can send me anything, or ask anything, if you like.

Well, you can't use that exact one right there, but thats just a picture of it! Ask me anything, or send me stuff you like and when I get down time at home, I will make a post and answer everything with an answer or what I think! And I see every one of them, since they go straight to my phone! (Magiiiic!)

Untitled... Not really

The schedule at school today is weird, I about forgot we had this class today... And I found my ring! <3 (My girlfriend had it... DONT JUDGE ME I FORGOT OKAY!) Slow day, boring people, the usual!
Might as well get started? Don't have long to do this!

4. Discipline: Practice makes perfectly good.Your goal is not to be a perfect public speaker. There is no such thing. Your goal is to be an effective public speaker. Like anything else in life, it takes practice. We too often take communication for granted because we speak to people everyday. But when your prosperity is directly linked to how well you perform in front a group, you need to give the task the same attention as if you were a professional athlete. Remember, even world champion athletes practice every day. A-Rod and Jeter take batting practice every day.

Whoops getting caught by bell!

No name woop woop

Humm... Good day! Not sure what else to say, nothing big in my life. So lets get down to todays lesson?

3. Visualization: If you can see it, you can speak it. Winners in all aspects of life have this in common: they practice visualization to achieve their goals. Sales people envision themselves closing the deal; executives picture themselves developing new ventures; athletes close their eyes and imagine themselves making that basket, hitting that home run, or breaking that record. The same is true in public speaking. The best way to fight anxiety and to become a more comfortable speaker is to practice in the one place where no one else can see you—your mind. If you visualize on a consistent basis, your mind will become used to the prospect of speaking in public, and pretty soon you’ll conquer any feelings of anxiety.

It's a good thing to practice, very useful, even in critical moments. Nobody will fault you if you stop for a second to collect yourself, right? (Oh hey, I just realized... I lost my ring. *crisis mode activated*) I think that is all for today, time for me to go... cry in a hole over my poor ring. :c

Okay. Talk about freaking out.

Okay, before we get down to it! Yesterday evening, ring cermony(for our high school rings)!
I didn't have to go to it, but I figured it would be better if I did... Talk about scary man. Had to walk up and have them say our names and get our ring. (Doesn't seem scary does it? It kinda was when I looked at bleachers full of parents.) Even worse, being at the head of the row... It's like "Oh god, oh god. What do I do, what if I fall, oh god... I'm gonna die". Yes, I will post pictures of my ring <3 Time to get down to business!

Yesterday,
1. Perception
Today!
2. Perfection: When you make a mistake, no one cares but you. Even the most accomplished public speaker will make a mistake at some point. Just keep in mind that you’ll notice more than anyone in your audience. The most important thing a speaker can do after making a mistake is to keep going. Don’t stop and—unless the mistake was truly earth shattering—never apologize to the audience for a minor slip. Unless they are reading the speech during your delivery, the audience won’t know if you left out a word, said the wrong name, or skipped a page. Because “to error is human,” a mistake can actually work for you, because it allows you to connect with your audience. People don’t want to hear from someone who is “perfect;” they will relate much more easily to someone who is real.

Being perfect isn't always... Perfect? It takes a lot to do these things, and not being perfect is a given, It's how you let your imperfections make you think. You can think good or bad of yourself, but don't let it affect you. I think bad of myself all the time, but according to almost everyone I talk to, "Theres nothing wrong." Maybe, maybe not. But everyone has their own opinions, right?

"The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions."

Boring day, boring post...

Kind of depressed, not sure what to say, but I still need to relate to my blog.
So lets start with the Seven Principles of Effective Public Speaking? These are actually what helps me work things out with myself... Oh, and I won't post all seven at once, of course! (Spoils the fun.)

1. Perception: Stop trying to be a great “public” speaker.
People want to listen to someone who is interesting, relaxed, and comfortable. In the routine conversations we have every day, we have no problem being ourselves. Yet too often, when we stand up to give a speech, something changes. We focus on the “public” at the expense of the “speaking.” To become an effective public speaker, you must do just the opposite: focus on the speaking and let go of the “public.” Think of it as a conversation between you and the audience. If you can carry on a relaxed conversation with one or two people, you can give a great speech. Whether your audience consists of two people or two thousand and whether you’re talking about the latest medical breakthrough or what you did today at work, be yourself; talk directly to people and make a connection with them.

"The mind is a wonderful thing. It starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you get up to speak in public.

Okay, this may sound stupid.

Title colors represent my school, Crescent High School!
Pink background for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! (Yay October!)

So I realllly don't have long, but I will try to type a lot!
Today, I figured out that speaking in front of others usually isn't as bad as you think. Considering, usually when we present anything, I ask to go last, or try to get out of it all together. But going last is a lot better, you can see how others do theirs, and what all they tell about theirs.

Nobody is absoloutely perfect in giving information in a crowd, but practice makes perfect. It may seem crazy, but even talking to yourself in a mirror can help you feel better about. (Really does sound crazy, doesn't it. Guess that makes me crazy?) It really does help, I promise.

In this case, if it is scary, it might be a good thing to try.

Introductions? Something like that...

This is Effective Speaking! Yeah, I'm not good with blogs, or posting, or talking... Or well being social. BUT! THATS WHY I'M HERE, ISN'T IT? Introductions meaning... My name is William Dale Tench, call me Dale. I am 16 and not really good at talking in front of any group with attendance of over... 1 person. I made this blog in my Web-Page Design class, for a grade, but I think of this blog as a lot more than a grade (<3)!

This blog is kind of a helping tool, not just for me, but for anyone who is shy and close minded about most things (like me). It is kind of a journy to being um... Less shy? Able to speak my mind? Speaking in front of people? Something like that... Not really sure how to explain it.

Like some people, you can't really stand up and talk to people(school projects, awards, etc, etc...). Yeah, not going to lie, especially for me it is a really nerve racking thing, not considering all of the stuttering and gibberish flying out of my mouth. What I want to do with this blog, is tell how I do it, tell how I overcome my fear of crouds(not sure if I can, but let me tell you, it's going to be fun trying).

This is all I have time for right now, but I will probably make changes to this and stuff when I get home! See ya for now!

"Just do it." Thanks, Nike.
Too bad it isn't that easy...
